Tip

of the month

This month's tip: Sponsorship and your equipment
When you approach a sponsor you need to do it as a business relationship. It's not about you, it's about what you can do for their business. It's advertising dollars that they have to spend on your sponsorship so you need to be able to show them how you can make them more than their current advertising does. It's about putting together a portfolio that can be scanned easily. Tell them about yourself but be sure to tell them how you will get them effective exposure in a market they currently are not in, and then tell them how that exposure will make them money. If you'll do that anyone will be ready to sponsor you. How much they can pay will reflect directly on what you can do for them. They don't want or need a tax write off. They need more income. Develop a valid plan to do that for them and you're a person they'll want to sponsor. Three things make up winning in this sport. The right information (Knowledge), the right gear (Quality Equipment), and the right physical conditioning. Leave any out and you simply can not compete. I've often heard people say they don't get good equipment because they can't afford it. If they really stopped to think they'd realize they can't afford to rodeo if they don't have quality equipment. It's a matter of winning or donating. Everyone has to do their part I guess but it seems a poor choice of reasons to be a loser.

June's topic: Rodeo Schedules
The most common concern we get from our members is:
When is the next rodeo and how do I enter.
    1. If not a member join the PRSRA
    2. Look at the scrolling menu (on website/left side of all pages)
    3. Look on our schedule page
    4. Click event for details (must have pop-ups enabled)
    5. Call entry number on specific date (if it says now call now)
    6. Identify yourself as a PRSRA member
Check back often, our schedules are continually updated. To avoid confusion and loss of good standing show up at the event with your equipment and pay your entry fees.
